Location
Once in Piancastagnaio from any direction, the Convent of St. Bartolomeo is along the main street (SS n. 326) which connects Piancastagnaio and Abbadia San Salvatore. Piancastagnaio is in Southern Tuscany, along the road from Rome and Florence, at the boundary between the districts of Siena, Grosseto, Viterbo and Orvieto.
It’s easily reachable both from North and from South via Motorway A1 and the State roads Aurelia and Cassia.
BY CAR
From Florence and from Rome take the motorway named “Autostrada del Sole” A1, exit in Chiusi, follow the indications to Chianciano. Soon before reaching Chianciano, take the road to Monte Amiata and follow the indications to Abbadia San Salvatore.
From Grosseto take the road to Paganico, direction Amiata Mount.
Those who choose the Cassia road from North, coming from Siena should follow the indications to Bagni San Filippo, and then Abbadia San Salvatore and Piancastagnaio. (km 16) For those coming from South (Rome), once in the villane Celle sul Rigo take the road to Piancastagnaio (km 11).
