MOUNT AMIATA AND ITS WOODS
The Amiata mountain has an unmistakable silhouette also from afar: when the sky is clear it’s possible to see it also from the coast of Uccellina Park or from the Giglio Island, from the Chianti hills and the Terminillo rocks, from the Trasimeno and Bolsena lakes.
A sharp silhouette which reminds of an island floating on a sea of sweet hills, the hills of the valleys of Orcia, Fiora, Albegna and Paglia rivers which make the Amiata mount a unique place.
From the top of it (1738 Meters) it’s possibile to enjoy a panorama which gathers the “great emotions” of Tuscany.

HISTORY AND CULTURE
Siena, after the Chianti countryside, has spread itself towards South to the Orcia valley: travelling along it it’s possible to reach Pienza.
From the overlook you can see the silhouette of the Amiata mount, which Pope Julius II defined “a Swiss island in Italy”.
At a height of about 800 meters on the Amiata mount, there is a suggestive group of medieval villages, at the limit of the lava flow, among which Piancastagnaio, where the Convento San Bartolomeo is located.
